Carlin’s Jamie Caroline took double pole position at Oulton Park during qualifying. The session was extremely close for the F4 British Championship.
Jamie Caroline and TRS Arden’s Oscar Piastri were the first two to set lap times in the 1:22 bracket as the session came towards the end. Carlin’s Logan Sargeant joined them and snatched provisional pole position just two minutes before the end of the session.
His time of 1:22.772 saw him 0.086 seconds clear from teammate Caroline. The Pirtek backed racer then struck back with a lap time of 1:22.690 which saw him claim pole position for race one by just 0.083 seconds.
The second row of the grid for the opening race of the weekend will be taken up by the TRS Arden pairing of Alex Quinn and Piastri in third and fourth respectively. The two were separated by just 0.074 seconds.
Double R Racing’s Karl Massaad was another of the drivers to improve late in the session, he climbed three places on his last flying lap to ensure he got a third-row start. He will start race one from sixth behind teammate Linus Lundqvist in fifth. Lundqvist was 0.274 seconds off pole position but 0.380 seconds ahead of his teammate.
Carlin’s Patrik Pasma finished the session to qualify in seventh for race one with TRS Arden’s Ayrton Simmons alongside in eighth.
Richardson Racing’s Harry Webb took the qualifying honours in the Ford F4 Challenge Cup in ninth, proving to be the quickest in the class for the first time so far this year. He finished the session just ahead of Fortec’s Oliver York.
