Matt Campbell took his fourth Porsche Supercup pole position by default after Saturday qualifying was cancelled due to appalling weather conditions.
Heavy rain fell throughout the morning at Monza on Saturday and wasn’t showing any signs of easing before qualifying got underway.
Although the session did start, race control red flagged the session before a lap time could be set and then cancelled the session altogether.
Therefore the grid for Sunday’s race would be decided by the driver’s times from Friday practice.
Matt Campbell who topped practice would start on pole and is joined on the front-row by Kuwait International Zaid Ashkanani.
Championship leader Michael Ammermüller starts third and joining him on row two is Norwegian driver Dennis Olsen.
Olsen had a dream weekend in Spa and will be looking to build on that momentum to pile the pressure on championship leader Michael Ammermüller who continues to shrug off the immense pressure from his rivals.
